highlights of september

Remember the Muslim guy that came up to me in the park and asked (in Spanish) if I am English and I said “yes I am American!”? Well he ended up becoming good friends with the guys on our team. A while ago Jesus appeared to him in a dream. Jesus whispered the name of God and told him that He could heal him. When he woke up he couldn’t remember the name Jesus whispered, all he could remember was how incredibly happy he was in his dream. Well a few weeks ago we threw him a birthday party. He wanted a typical American birhtday party, so we had a barbeque. We played the question game, like he is turing 20 so we could ask 20 questions. Someone said, “what do you fear the most?” With out hesitation he said, “God”. Not many 20 year olds say that.

One night I was at worship service with people who live around the world and we praised God together in Spanish, Portugese, English, Arabic, and Turkish.

Last Friday night all my Spanish friends came back to have a going away party weekend for our friend Maria who is moving to London for a year to learn my favorite language! English! It was so fun reuniting with them all. We hung out in a plaza that night that looked out over the Alhambra with all the lights shining on it, it was beautiful. Here everyone gives two kisses, one on each cheek when you are meeting someone, as a greeting or to say good bye. Well, Maria explained to me that you only give one kiss to someone who is a close friend or family…. strangers and everyone else get two. So that night I was saying goodbye to go home and Flora and I went in for the 2 kisses and she only gave me one and then hugged me. I got one kiss instead of two! I was honored.

One day I went to get my hair cut. I walked in and the girl at the from desk said, “I remember you, you are the girl who had the green hair!” hahha (that story is under the blog titled “I love goggles”)

Last Saturday night I was out with my Spanish friends and one of the asked me, “molly, why haven’t you fallen in love with someone here in Spain yet?” I said, “well, I think it is pretty much impossible for me to fall in love with someone here.” “what, why?” “well because the most important thing for me in someone is really hard to find here.” “what is it?” I said, “do you really want to know?” “yeah what is it?” “It is that they believe in God and Jesus and love Him.” As soon as I said that she pulled away from me and looked at me like I am completely foreign or something. “molly, you’re scaring me” “you said you wanted to know.” “yeah well you will never find a young person here who would ever say that.” “I know, that is why I probably won’t fall in love here… but I really wish people here believed.” “yeah well I don’t, I don’t need God.” “Really? I do.” The conversation went on, not that her not believing is a highlight, but any opportunity to share about God is and makes me pray harder for them and for Spain.

One day we went to a waterfall! That picture is of me being really excited about being in the nature.

At our training I got the opportunity to learn from a man who is maybe one of the best teacher’s Ive ever heard. His name is Don McCurry, he teaches all around the world and was a missionary in Pakistan for 18 years. He knows the Bible inside and out and really loves Jesus. One day during class he said, “Do you know that there are only 4 chapters in the Bible that don’t talk about missions? What are those four chapters does anyone know? (silence) Molly, what are the 4 chapters in the bible that don’t talk about missions? Me: “I have no idea” (I was thinking umm?... somewhere in Song of Songs?) “Genesis 1 and 2 and Revelation 21 and 22 where Satan does not have power, as long as he has power there will be missions. Molly, go and master the Bible.”

So, I am getting so many emails about how awesome my school is and I am so excited but have no one to share it with at the moment so I making a tribute on my blog, hahaha!!

This makes me really want to be there celebrating the win of our football team with everyone. Well to everyone at App and all my fellow alumni friends (thats so wierd to be an alumni) I am celebrating in spirit over here in Spain.. by myself...

haha, this is what my mom's email said, "App beat Michigan in football. It's a really big deal so Dad told me to e-mail you. I guess no other team in their division has ever beat a ranked team like Michigan. It's a big deal on the TV!"

this is what katie smith said, "MOOOOLY... you aren't going to beleive this.... we freaking beat the universtiy of Michigan today.. it is all over the news... appstate has created the largest upset in COLLEGE FOOTBALL HISTORY... i mean it is so amazing it is probably on the spanish news three times like you are. there is no possible way you could have gone to a better university... we missed you today.. especially when they dropped something yellow on the feild... we lived the dream today"

I think I just want to be a college student forever. I miss Boone and my wonderful school, I am so proud!! Go APPSTATE!
